Till We Meet Again 《月老》(2021)
Genre: Fantasy/Romance
Me rates it: 4.3/5
This piece of fantasy romance seems too real to be deemed ordinary. The immersive experience has made water fountains out of my eye sockets.
It might be a bit confusing to some and others even labelling the piece greedy, as the story caters a mix of western and southern culture and believes. And a new approach in mixing rom-com, fantasy and horror.
I really am not too big of a fan for horror films but the quality makes up for it. It’s also worth mentioning that Ko (the director) has somehow thrown a punch of seeming unrelated shots and made me ask questions instead of confused. The story progression is also well paced and unpredictable, and special props to Ko for capturing the curiosity much like novelists do.(yes I know the plot is from a novel but still it should not be easy to imitate)
The moral of the story is, told through two extreme characters of love and hatred; to focus on what’s ahead instead of what’s in the past.
As always, try lowering your expectations, and just enjoy the movie together or alone.
