The Phantom of the Open (2021)
Genre: Comedy/Sport
Me rates it: 4.2/5
Another gem forged and inspired by a true story. This clever piece did exactly what I imagined back when I was a kid: are opens really open to anyone?
A light-hearted watch, some good old-fashioned British humour couldn't hurt. I, however worry if the film will live up to its British counterpart. It’s right between a superb piece that would do well cross boarders and being over sold if more marketing was involved... given that I probably would rate it a different score if I had higher expectations, but I guess that’s how it is with movie reviews.
As always, try lowering your expectations, and just enjoy the movie together or alone.
