Poor Things movie review

Poor Things (2023) Movie Review

Poor Things (2023)

Genre: Comedy/Sci-fi

Me rates it: 3.9/5

A funky and at times dark sense of humour bringing the audience an uplifting experience. But a few forced scenes here and there did seriously knock down my liking towards the piece. Speaking of, the pace was unnecessarily dragged out to otherwise a truly masterpiece. There are a lot of great aspects about the piece though, the subtle sci-fi aspect, the ever amazing but yet in themed costumes and some very interesting camera angles and choices of lens.

Emma absolutely killed the role and Dafoe’s father like figure with his character slowly revealing his past, makes a great way to develop the plot and to explain why and how things are the way it is.

It is definitely not a movie for a family nights, and spoiler alert, guess who I watched it with…

Marvellous font play in the end credits and not to mention great combination of background contrasting and sound effects makes a great attempt to keep the end credit scenes away from dullness.

As always, try lowering your expectations, and just enjoy the movie together or alone.
